Abe brought home a UNICEF box from school a couple of days ago. He emptied his entire (HUGE) piggy bank into the box. He returned it the next morning to school. Yesterday, he brought home a new box. He emptied the rest of his bank and Randy's spare change and took that box back. Today he brought home a half full box from school. A box with money in it already? He said that was all the money from the teachers and one teacher wrote a $25 check. He was so proud.
When I went to check my e-mail I had a message from the teacher who is in charge of the UNICEF fundraiser for Roosevelt. She wanted Randy and I to be aware of what Abe was doing and wanted to make sure it was OK for her to keep giving him boxes. She thanked us for our support and for raising such a loving and giving young man.
He most definitely has cleared out his savings, with a cheerful heart, for this great cause. He told me that he has been waiting for years for a "good charity" to give his money to. At least since he was 5.
